Yesterday we officially passed the Cape Verdic Isles, had a small discussion whether we should go in and refuel but in the end decided not to. We had about one day of motoring fuel left, if the Pasat winds continue to be absent going in would give us an extra 3 days of motoring time. However.... the good news is: On the weather maps it looks like the Pasat is pretty constant a bit further south. So we are going further south...
The night of the 2nd to the 3rd was great with 4BF winds from behind so we had the spinnaker up doing up to 8 knots heading straight to Barbados. Half way through the night the wind got too strong and we had to sail through 6/7 BF winds which we had hoped not to see again. The 3rd of December was uneventful with the exception of our hunt for the 2 meter Tuna, still looking for it.
Last night we had to turn on the engine and we are currently motoring through another windless zone. Although the food has been pretty good so far (all the fresh stuff is now finished) Maarten dreamt of McDonalds on Barbados last night. Ludwig took the easy weather to clean out all the water in hidden places this morning.
The good news is that we hope to catch up to the right winds tomorrow at the end of the day. Keep your fingers crossed for us... 1800 miles to go...
